Just purchased my second Haverford Telescopic pole for putting an antenna up in the air for radio operations. Purchased because I thought I damaged the last one as I dragged it along the road, forgetting it was still tied to the bullbar. When I stopped, all I lost was the rubber stopper, I'm still using the the first pole, as no damage caused and works great. These poles are fantastic, tough and do the job I want without any issues. This product was the solution I was looking for! Works just as advertised, simple to install. One thing I would say is to try and buy the net that accompanies the poles. I bought some other generic ones, and had to bootstrap the connection points - would've been easier if I'd just purchased a matching net set.

Wow, I wish we had done this sooner. In the heat of the summer sun, it was unbearable to sit on the deck. The sunshade is perfect and we can now enjoy the outdoors mid-day in the summer. The mounting kit (stainless steel) is great for the salt air, and all that was needed was the proper size stainless steel screws (16 of them) to mount the rectangular sail.

Now you might think that the description of "extendable telescopic pole" for light weight flag pole needs, radio antennae, etc is the extent of it's usefulness.
Well, I'm here to tell you that I bought it for pulling electrical/data cables through long hollow walls and ceilings, armed with some duct tape, a hook, and a 10m long endoscope camera. (also taped to the end). So if you've struggled with floppy spools of "fish tape", the STILL to floppy cable fishing rods (also fibreglass)... this is a considerable step up in rigidity... which is handy when going horizontally in walls/ceilings over significant distances.
Being made of fibreglass, for the reduction in radio interference.... it has no electrical conductivity, which is actually important when you're dodging light fittings, and daisy-chained (possibly rodent-chewed) power cords that were probably installed by an apprentice electrician with little oversight and left exposed cable ends many years ago.
That said, the back end of this telescopic pole, which holds all the compressed pieces in the handle, during storage was damaged in shipping, and probably could have been built to a slightly higher standard for negligible amounts of extra money... but I just duct taped it back together.
Each section is slightly tapered so that it wedges/friction fits into the next largest section when put in the extended position. A twisting action helps to lock it in place. However, if it's vertical, and experiences a lot of vibration (wind, 4WD movement, etc) it can eventually wiggle free and collapse. This is definitely aimed to be portable, but best used when stationary for that reason.
The pole did exactly what I wanted, was FAR more affordable than dinky 4mm wall fishing rods, and I'm sure I'll come up with some other use for it down the trackj.
We are now looking forward to the first real harvest of our quince tree in several years thanks to the netting. tree is quite big so needed the entire 7 x 10 M net to encase it.
